There are a lot of good things with anime than manga. The final stretch of naruto's first run is particularly to blame for this, featuring more than a hundred episodes of filler that were meant to prevent the show from overtaking the manga.

On top of that, the directing of the anime really took the best parts from the manga and made you feel for every character. I loved the anime to begin with but the manga is on a whole nother level with well drawn images and dramatic moments.
